Principal's Corner

Blackhawk Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at Humphreys High School!

As we begin a new year together, I want to extend a warm welcome to both our returning families and those who are joining the Blackhawk community for the first time. Whether you are new to Humphreys or have been with us for years, we are excited to partner with you in supporting your student's success.

At Humphreys High School, we believe that every student has the potential to achieve great things. Our dedicated faculty and staff work each day to create engaging learning experiences, foster meaningful relationships, and challenge students to grow academically, socially, and personally. We are committed to helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to thrive both during high school and beyond.

This year, students will continue to have access to a wide variety of opportunities that reflect the varied interests and goals of our school community. From Advanced Placement and dual enrollment courses to Career and Technical Education pathways, fine arts programs, athletics, clubs, leadership organizations, and service opportunities, there is something for every student to explore and enjoy.

Humphreys High School has built a strong tradition of excellence, but what makes our school special is not simply our accomplishments. It is our people. The students who challenge themselves each day, the teachers who invest countless hours in their success, and the families who support them every step of the way create a culture where students feel connected, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential.

As we move through the year, I encourage families to stay involved and connected. Attend school events, communicate with teachers, participate in SAC and PTSO activities, and celebrate the many achievements of our students. When schools and families work together, students benefit.

I am honored to serve as principal of Humphreys High School and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such an outstanding community. Together with Dr. Sterling, Mr. Bragg, and our entire staff, we look forward to another year of growth, achievement, and Blackhawk pride.

Thank you for your continued support of Humphreys High School. Here's to a fantastic year ahead as we continue to Soar Above the Rest.

Respectfully,

Amanda Schwerdt-Johnson
