JROTC Rifle Marksmanship
To join the team, a student must be a member of the JROTC program here at HHS. The team member must pass a safety test with a score of 100% before handling air rifles. They will learn what a sight picture is and how to aim the rifle in the prone standing and kneeling positions. They will practice shooting pellets from each of the positions. The goal for each shooter is to shoot a score of 250 points out of a possible 300 points each time they come to practice. Shooters participate in shooting competitions in the season; some are face to face with schools on the peninsula and others are against all the DoDEA schools in the Pacific via the postal match format. Six shooters will qualify to represent HHS in the Far East competition. This sport is the gateway on the path to Olympic shooting.
